Family Planning Care

The Practice provides access to full contraceptive services. Some of the servcies may be via the Family Planning Centre. A full range of contraceptive methods is available:

  • barrier methods
  • diaphragms
  • caps
  • condoms
  • IUD
  • the Pill
  • injectable contraceptives
  • emergency ‘morning after’ contraception
  • natural family planning

There is a confidential counselling service for all patients, including young people. Pregnancy tests, pregnancy counselling and referral for termination can be arranged if appropriate.

Child Health Services

Checks should be performed:

  • 10 – 14 Days
  • 6 – 8 weeks
  • Under 1 year
  • 2½ years

Children will then be seen by the School Nursing Service when they start Nursery.

Baby Clinic

The Doctor and Health Visitor are able to discuss any of your baby’s problems.

A normal appointment is necessary for an ill child.

Immunisations

Routine immunisations are carried out by the practice nurses at 8, 12 and 16 weeks, 13 months, 4 years, 12 years (girls only) and fifteen years. Where coinciding with a baby check the immunisation follows on from the check, conducted by the practice nurse.

Minor Surgery

By appointment with the Doctor and Nurse.

Asthma/COPD Clinic

Review and monitoring is offered to those patients who suffer from Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The Clinic supports patients in the management of their conditions. Seen by appointment with the Practice Nurse.

Diabetes Clinic

Review and monitoring is offered for those patients who suffer from Diabetes, both Insulin and Non-Insulin Dependant. The Clinic supports patients in the management of their condition together with advice on lifestyle, diet, weight and glucose testing.

Flu Vaccinations

An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing or rest homes. Please contact the Reception staff during September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, we can arrange a home visit.

Non NHS Fees

Services outside the scope of the NHS will be charged according to a list of recommended fees. The list can be found in the waiting room. You can also download our list of Fees and Charges by clicking on ‘Leaflet’ on the left hand side of this page.

Non NHS services include:

  • HGV and PSV medicals
  • Insurance company reports and medicals
  • Private certificates
  • Holiday cancellation
  • Medical insurance reports/forms
  • Pre-employment medicals
  • Vaccination certificates, etc.
